We all love writers conferences, but too often the timing of them either conflict with our schedules, are too far away, or are priced way out of our budgets. Boot Camp for Christian Writers has been running seminars and writers conferences out of Beeson Divinity School based inside Birmingham, Alabama’s Samford University for years, and recently begun to publish their curriculum for outsiders as well!
To date, five volumes have been published in paperback with two more coming out in November. The workbooks are excellently written and presented in a learning-friendly way, with plenty of space for notes above and beyond the exercises and study questions.
Who wrote these books? Two extremely prolific and successful authors have teamed up to help anyone who will come succeed in publishing.
Denise George is the author of more than 27 traditionally-published books, and more than 1500 magazine articles.
Carolyn Tomlin is the author of more than 4000 magazine articles and numerous books. Both ladies share their knowledge and expertise in each workbook to give us the writers conference experience right in our homes.
I think it would be fun to get some writer-friends together and purchase these books and run your own seminar. This is great when you can’t get to Alabama or Tennessee for the conference!

GUEST BLOGGER: Author Angela White "Scenes of the Apocalypse Release Tour"

Hello, out there! I am excited to have a guest blogger today... my first one ever. Although I haven't yet read her new book, Angela White is a great writer and a friend of mine. Let's see what she's bringing to the readin' table!

Scenes of the Apocalypse #4 – Travel Nightmares

Traveling after an Apocalypse will present a number of challenges. Besides the weather and lack of care, abandoned vehicles will clog every street near highway ramps and for miles around them in every direction. These are from the people who were trapped in line and ran out of gas or food or water or were attacked or chased off or ran from the Draft. Never removed, these unwanted autos will sit for decades or longer before society recovers enough to clear the streets. At best, travelers after an Apocalypse will find the occasional stretch that someone has come through before them. Other than that, they will have to make new roads.

Mudslides and other natural disasters will be the biggest headache to travelers after the abandoned cars. Nature delivers her fury on a regular basis and humans clean up afterward. It’s always been that way, but when the Apocalypse comes, no one will take care of these things anymore. Bridges will collapse and stay that way. Earthquakes will split cracks in the roads and overpasses and no one will come to fix them or clear the rubble. Whole cities will lie in waste and getting through them quickly will be impossible.

In the clip below from my new release, a group of refugees have found their way completely blocked and have to choose the safest way to get through.

"Seven very gifted survivors are destined to rebuild their country after a nuclear apocalypse...If they can stay alive long enough to find each other. Impossible to put down." - The Review Blog

The refugees stared in horror at what remained of the buried tourist town.
A recent slide had sent waves of the debris-laden glop straight through most of the small neighborhood. The mud was across the streets in thick layers that Safe Haven had little hope of driving through. In the near distance, the small town peered out at them from mud-slicked hills and garbage-covered valleys that used to be rooftops and windows.
“Convoy halt. Kenn, find us a turn-around.”
“He should keep going. Back is a bad idea.” Angela’s words were low, not expecting Neil to believe her and she tensed, waiting.
“It’ll take us hours to clear the road.” Neil stated, frowning when Kyle only took the maps from the bag at his feet. “We’ll lose a lot of time.”
“Better time than lives,” Kyle stated, thinking about the Slavers who were slowly catching up to them.
Neil turned to frown at him. “If there’s a problem here.”
Angela didn’t want to wait for them to argue it out and call Adrian, but she didn’t want Kenn or Brady to hear a mental call either. She watched the lead semi door open, knowing what would do it quicker. “He’s not safe here. None of us are.”
“And what do you suggest?” Neil demanded, terrified of the next thing Adrian would ask of him where she was concerned. To get Adrian’s vote for the Eagles, each man had to pass a private lesson that Neil taught and he had no idea how he’d be able to do it for her test. “Don’t go back, can’t go forward.”
“Go Around.”
She and Kyle spoke at the same time and the trooper let out an annoyed sigh, picking up the mic.
“Three to base.”
“Go ahead.”
“We’d like to suggest going around instead.”
